The Lands and Waters
around Pine Acres Resort
are something really special. In addition to our 40 plus
acres of mature pines and wildlife, we are located on the incredible
High Falls Flowage. This is a beautiful undeveloped 1,700
acre lake formed by the very clean Peshtigo River. Almost 10,000
acres of these lands is under federal preservation around 4 lakes,
and it is wild and natural as it has been for almost 100 years. |

 |
The fishing is outstanding. The
flowage is Class A Muskie water, and trophy bass, northern and
walleye are there too. There are many panfish for the faster
action that the smaller fish bring. It is not too often that
you find a lake of this size with only a handful of cottages.
It is for the most part, 30 miles of unspoiled wild shores. |
|
The water has a tannin staining
to it, and there are large granite outcroppings, big fish and
incredible sunsets. It is like a taste of Canada, close to home.
The roughly 20 mile corridor
of wild shore land is home to many forms of wildlife. Deer, eagles,
wading birds, loons, beavers, otter, badger, and thousands of
other species of plants and animals call this wild land home. |
 |
 |
Our 40 plus acres is adjacent
to this corridor of wild lands, and there is a huge area of wild
shores to explore right there. You can hunt, fish, hike, bird
and nature watch, cross country ski and more. Within about a
mile of here, there are two county parks, both with beaches and
other facilities on the flowage.
In a little wider area, Marinette
County boasts the most miles of trout streams of any county in
Wisconsin. Most have naturally reproducing populations, and many
are accessible through the thousands of acres of county forest
lands. |
|
Marinette County is known as
the Waterfall Capitol of Wisconsin. There are over a dozen major
waterfalls on an easily accessible tour of Marinette County Parks.
In addition, the Peshtigo River
north of the flowages boasts the longest stretch of whitewater
in the midwest and several commercial raft companies conduct
whitewater rafting trips from early April through September. |
 |
|
A few miles west of us in Oconto
County is the Nicolet National Forest. This huge area offers
a multitude of recreation possibilities. Newer recreational facilities
in the area include the Tommy G. Thompson Centennial State Park
on the south shore of Caldron Falls Flowage and the newly established
Peshtigo River State Forest. This State Forest encompasses much
of the wild shores of the Caldron Falls and High Falls Flowages.
This is an incredible area that
holds many secrets and natural wonders, and it all starts at
your doorstep.
